Chicago dance theater company Lucky Plush Productions seeks a graduate student with strong interest in non-profit managment to serve as Volunteer Cultiavtion Lab Fellow for 2018/19

Become a crucial partner of ​Lucky Plush Productions’ award-winning team as we implement Year 2 of Volunteer Cultivation Lab ​(VCL). VCL is a unique fellow-led program that provides valuable skill building opportunities to graduate students with a strong interest in nonprofit management and entrepreneurial business models. Customized mentoring and enrichment opportunities will bridge classroom knowledge to practical career preparation. The fellow will lead VCL by recruiting, hiring, overseeing, and stewarding a body of experienced professional and high-level student volunteers in the following areas:

Marketing/communications​:​ brand management, messaging, graphic design, photography, video, public relations

Financial management:​ accounting, business processes, budgeting, forecasting

Fundraising:​ ​policies and strategies, fundraising initiatives and target donor identification

Company/tour management:​ operations, logistics, scheduling

Presenter networking​: ​booking, contracts

Project/program management:​ local programming and new initiatives

Based in Chicago, Lucky Plush Productions is an internationally touring dance-theater company that provokes, inspires, and entertains audiences through its layered choreography, surprising humor, and socially relevant storytelling. Lucky Plush is also recognized as a leader for its entrepreneurial approach to arts management. The company received a 2016 MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, and Artistic Director Julia Rhoads received a 2014 Fractured Atlas Arts Entrepreneurship Award for initiating Creative Partners, a fundraising model that provides a shared development staff for Lucky Plush and other nationally-recognized companies.

Volunteer Cultivation Lab (VCL) is made possible through the significant endorsement and financial support of Chicago’s lead funders through Arts Work Fund. In activating a network of diverse high-level professional volunteers, VCL dramatically increases the organizational and creative output of LPP without a corresponding surge in expense. VCL simultaneously enriches the Chicago arts sector by boosting community engagement with the arts.

Requirements
Skills & Qualifications: 

Education and Experience
● Possess an undergraduate degree
● Have job-related experience in the performing arts, arts management or non-profit sector, managing volunteer programs, leading teams and/or organizations.

Skills
● Proficient in basic computer applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets and internet usage
● Must be willing and able to learn new online platforms as LPP directs
● Record keeping skills
● Organization and planning skills

Capabilities
● Demonstrated capability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
● Ability to work well with diverse groups of staff and volunteers
● Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities

Time Commitments
● Average number of hours per week to accomplish all tasks is approximately 15. Fellow works out of Harris Theater offices ten hours per week (days and times predetermined at beginning of commitment) with five cumulative remote hours for email check-ins throughout the week
● Must be available for weekly in-person meetings with LPP Administrators on a prearranged basis
● Must attend all LPP special events
● Attends meetings of the Board of Directors if requested
