Graphic Design Intern- Fall | Lyric Opera of Chicago

Time commitment:    15-25 hours per week

Required:

  • Substantial portfolio that documents effectiveness of designs
  • Strong understanding of how typography, layout, photography and color work together to form clear, captivating, cohesive materials
  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to receive and process criticism on creative work
  • Understanding of the latest design trends and their role within a commercial environment
  • Strong communication, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to undertake multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize work, use good judgment, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and carry projects through to completion in a timely manner
  • Ability to work and think independently but also works well in a larger team
  • Illustration skills a plus
  • Web design knowledge a plus
  • Interest in the performing arts/opera a plus

 

Brief description of duties:

  • Design clear, engaging design collateral for print and web. This may include logos, direct mail pieces, branded promotional items, website and social media graphics, posters, flyers, and other marketing materials as needed
  • Work closely with Lyric staff to translate their messaging concepts into marketing materials
